| Qualifications: |
AA/AS degree in ECE or closely related field such as elementary education, youth development or recreation management AND Two years of experience OR
Level 6, School Age Direct Care Professional with ME Roads to Quality or equivalent in another career lattice.
Familiarity with Accreditation Standards.
Certified in CPR & First Aid (will provide training)

| Position Description: |
Performance Responsibility to include but are not limited to:
1. Communicates information as needed.
2. Creates a warm and acceptable environment which is consistent and reliable and which extends beyond custodial care to meet the child’s social and emotional needs. Supports academic learning with enriching, educational activities.
3. Creates a warm effective environment:
a) Greets the child (and parent if applicable) upon arrival.
b) Accepts each child as s/he is.
c) Recognizes that each child is sensitive, thinking individual and treats him/her accordingly.
d) Strives to establish a secure, trusting relationship with parent and child.
4. Collects evidence 4 times a year on children`s development in the following areas:
a) Social/Emotional
b) Cognitive
c) Physical (gross and fine motor) development
d) Communication
5. Is responsible for health, safety and welfare of the children and for maintaining a safe, enriching environment.
6. Continuously increases knowledge in field of endeavor.
7. Maintains accurate records including attendance, medical, behavior documentation, and all account information. Stays current on site’s financial status.
8. Creates a working team of childcare professionals and helps provide training for assistants, aides, and volunteers.
9. Presents information about the Child Care Program as requested.
10. Makes appropriate recommendations to the Director.
11. Collects child care fees and keeps accurate computer records, including tallying and account information. Reports this to the Director or other designated entity within the Auburn School Dept.
12. Is familiar with all daily and emergency procedures and assumes responsibility for these.
13. Oversees all daily operations and works with existing staff to plan all indoor and outdoor activities.
14. Serves on the Advisory Committee.
15. Meets with the Director regularly to discuss questions, concerns and planning.
16. Assists the Director in establishing and maintaining strong and positive relationships with support personnel and helps other childcare staff to do the same.
17. Communicates with teachers of the students in the program regarding students’ emotional status and information about academic support. Communicates regularly with parents including information about the program, their child’s behavior, and their account.
18. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Director or may be deemed necessary by virtue of the position.
19. Is responsible for upholding childcare policies as outlined in the Staff Handbook and the Parent Handbook.
