Position: Program Coordinator, Special Education School

Location: Kittery Academy & Kittery Kids Academy

Compensation: Up to $28/hr depending on education & experience.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, School Day Hours!

Description:

Kittery Academy & Kittery Kids' Academy is a private special education school that blends behavioral support services with education for 10 students who have a mental health diagnosis that includes conduct disorders, anxiety and PTSD. As a Program Coordinator for Connections for Kids you'll work alongside teachers, licensed clinicians and other school personnel to provide behavioral support and day to day oversight and organization to the program; including supervision of BHP staff, behavioral management skills, treatment plan implementation, and staff coverage. This is a full time, school year position with time off for school vacation weeks and includes a 6 week summer program between July and August.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BHP (Behavioral Health Professional) Certification (Preferred)
  • 4 year college degree required
  • Experience working with children with behavioral / mental health challenges
  • Have a valid drivers license with proof of auto insurance
  • Are a positive person with a strong work ethic

Job Functions and Responsibilities

· Oversees all BHP’s and assigns clients with consultation from Clinical Team.

· Provides relief and/or additional support to BHP’s.

· Ensures fidelity to Safety Care technique and philosophy.

· Provides oversight and fidelity of Positive Behavioral Support and Incentive (PBIS) programs.

· Oversees timely completion and submission of BHP DAP and Incident Reports.

· Oversees BHP evaluations and annual reviews; coordinates any performance action plans if needed.

· QA’s daily case notes for quality and accuracy.

· Assists to train new staff.

· Attends all staff meetings and IEP as assigned.

· Upholds clear professional boundaries at all times.

· Supports the BHP with their client and teaches behavioral management skills while following the treatment plan closely.

· Supports BHP’s and makes sure they are managing their emotions professionally.

· Completes daily case notes if needed.

· Follows mandated reporter requirements for abuse and neglect of any client and others.

· Attends all CFK meetings that are necessary.

· Communicates daily with supervisor.

· Attends professional trainings and workshops to meet requirements of state and CFK.

· Clear and professional documentation of all services provided in accordance with CFK standards, State of Maine licensing requirements and program policies and procedures.

· Documents services with clients as needed.

· Assists to maintain safety and condition of facility .

· Other duties as agreed upon by supervisor.

· On occasion, may need to transport client in personal vehicle.

Expectations:

· Must maintain a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance, to be verified regularly.

· Must be able to successfully complete all phases of pre-service training and on-going training as required by state and CFK policy.

· Must be able to work in occasionally high pressure, high stress and physical environment. Position may experience verbal and /or physical aggression from client population.

· Computer literacy, organization and solid writing and editing skills are essential.

· Possess independent problem solving skills and be willing to seek assistance and guidance when needed.

· High level of accuracy, organization and detail orientation required.

· Must possess strong communication skills both verbal and written.

· Ability to work as a team player.

· Creative and caring; and ability to be sensitive to a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic attributes and environments.

· Able to be organized and to prioritize workload.

· Ability to meet deadlines.

· Self-motivated.
