Description

Maine School Administrative District #33 is seeking a full-time Library Assistant to work with the support of the district Library Media Specialist to keep the library open during the student day.

Responsibilities and Skills

  • Plans, initiates and carries to completion, clerical, secretarial and administrative activities related to the operation of the school's library
  • Maintains student library use records and accounts including overdue notices and the collection of fines
  • Shelves books and other library materials
  • Maintains library materials inventory
  • Receives and processes new library materials
  • Supervises students in the library
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently under varying deadlines
  • Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and the public
  • Skill in operating computers and other library related technologies
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing including clear, polite telephone communication skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Destiny Library Software

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) is required
  • Prior experience working with children is desirable

Hourly wages and benefits will be based on experience as a library technician and/or an educational technician and will be aligned to the Educational Technician I scale in the support staff bargaining agreement.

Start Date:  August 19, 2024
