Description Mathematics Teacher
Biddeford Regional Center of Technology, a secondary career and technical education school, is seeking a dynamic, creative instructor to teach math to our students in grades 9-12. We are seeking an individual that would contribute to a positive work environment, is passionate about math and teaching, and wants to make a difference in students' lives. This position will also oversee our math intervention program, teach 2 dual enrollment technical math classes, and coach or co-teach with our program instructors to use effective math strategies. Additional class offerings may be designed when need arises. We are seeking a candidate with the following:

Education
B.A from approved college, Master level desirable


Certifications:
300 Mathematics Endorsement, or Conditional eligible; DOE CHRC


Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in mathematics using the course of study adopted by BRCOT, including developing students' basic mathematical skills, an understanding of the structure of mathematics, and motivate students to apply mathematical understanding and skills to practical, real-world problems
  • Possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive teaching and instruction program for secondary level students
  • Possess knowledge of principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to the teaching and instruction of secondary level pupils; academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of secondary level pupils
  • Ability to apply effective classroom management techniques
  • Teach dual enrollment technical math classes
  • strong background in teaching math concepts and applying them to practical, functional applications
  • Ability to make math fun, functional ad meaningful for students
  • Ability to integrate and use technology in programming
  • Coach and model best instructional practices for teachers in math, STEM, and other content areas
  • Coordinate, collect, and analyze school math achievement data
  • analyze individual student math data and oversee and implement an effective intervention program
  • Implement effective strategies to reduce math anxiety and phobia for students
  • Effective communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues, including school administration
  • Collaborates with other school personnel in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional materials
  • Ability to work well with others from a wide range of socio-economic levels and cultural backgrounds
  • Industry experience is desirable
