Brunswick High School is looking for a Special Education Teacher for their Life Skills Program. Successful candidate will hold 282-Teacher of Student with Disabilities or 286-Teacher of Severely Impaired certifications as defined Maine Department of Education and CHRC.
Reports to: Building Instructional Strategist
Job Goal: The position requires a qualified candidate who is passionate about working with students in the functional life skills setting. The candidate must demonstrate comfort and proficiency with teaching, implementing, and supervising activities of daily living. The candidate will be responsible for performing Special Education Case Manager duties including, not limited to, implementing specially designed instruction, coordinating related services, and coordinating community-based programming. In addition, the candidate will be proficient in data collection, writing evidence-based IEPs around student need, and completing all IEP paperwork to support student programming. The candidate will have a strong supervisory background in order to supervise education technicians and to provide feedback and oversight to a number of behavioral health professionals. Effective communication and collaboration skills are a must. The candidate will be communicating and collaborating with parents/guardians, colleagues, community members, administration, and students. Finally, the candidate must be able to demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and optimism as an educator and learner.
