RSU 34 and Leonard Middle School in Old Town are seeking a guidance teacher to instruct and support students, and collaborate to build and maintain support services for students.

Requirements:

  • Middle school experience, preferably in school counseling

  • Professional certification—preferred Guidance Counselor 075, but will consider K-8 teaching certification

Job responsibilities will include the following:

  • Teach physical, mental, and social growth and well-being to classes of 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-graders

  • Work with teachers, school counselor, and administration to support individual student needs and systems of support

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

  • Strong foundation and commitment to developmental growth and needs of young adolescents

  • Building a calm, respectful, and supportive classroom environment

  • Effective instructional methods and strategies to teach development and healthy growth

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and teams

  • Develop regular and effective communication with families
