HCA has an opening for either a half time or a full time Educational Technician to work with students primarily in grades 5-8. Educational Technician I, II or III will be considered. This integral member of our team will work with individuals or small groups of students providing curriculum support, including the introduction of new learning preplanned in collaboration with our integrated faculty team.
The ideal candidate will support students with small group and individual instruction, monitor and communicate student performance to faculty, and perform lunch, recess, or transportation duties as assigned. The position at times will work as part of a group, or independently with direct teacher supervision.
HCA embraces a project-based, placed-based, standards-based curriculum that puts emphasis on interdisciplinary content, cross-cutting skills, and carefully scaffolded learning for students who approach school in a wide variety of ways. Our teaching practices are adapted from those of the Coalition of Essential Schools and Expeditionary Learning Schools. Because we are a “small by design” school, we seek team members who are eager to wear more than one hat. Our Educational Technicians are active members of our full academic team. We use a push-in support model as much as possible.

As a public school, HCA is committed to providing starting salaries comparable to that of our peer districts in Midcoast Maine. Salary will be commensurate with educational level and experience. Benefits are not available for part-time positions. Open until a suitable candidate is found.
