The Brooklin School seeks an experienced long-term first and second-grade teacher who combines skill in early reading, writing, and math instruction with creativity, enthusiasm, and exemplifies a collaborative nature. The position begins in early January of 2020 and will conclude in late February/Early March. The hired teacher will need to continue to build on the foundational work that has been set in place by our current teacher. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Early Education and experience with balanced literacy, differentiating literacy instruction in a heterogeneous classroom, and Carrie Thurston's model for reading intervention and enrichment. Our mission and vision is as follows: "We come together, to learn, to grow, and to explore. We are respectful, curious, and kind. We are all unique and learn together as equal members of one community. We care for each other, we care about ourselves, and we work to make the world a better place." We sing this in unison, each and every morning, set to the tune of Hakuna Matada.
