Specific Job Details:
Starting Fall 2024

Biddeford Regional Center of Technology is expanding its programming. We are seeking to hire a dynamic individual to teach our Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality Management program. The Hospitality teacher works to deliver high-quality educational experiences in the field of hospitality management and related pathways (travel, tourism, outdoor recreation, etc). This position instructs students to learn the industry professional standards, gain certifications and supervise student activities so students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes related to employment or post-secondary education in the related fields. Additionally the teacher and program students provides support for the culinary program and special events enhancing their experience in a live hands on work setting.

Qualifications:
1. Current Maine certification # 881 or eligibility to gain DOE certification.
2. Current CHRC background check approved by the DOE
3. Six years of work experience in hospitality management or related fields, event planning, travel, tourism, recereational industry or other directly related fields.
4. B.A. preferred but a minimim of Associates Degree from a technical school or accredited college in hospitality management or related field;
5. Flexibility with scheduling/coverage during special events
6. Willingness and ability to obtain professional certifications as needed.
7. Ability to work with hotels, resorts, resturaunts, recreational facilities to facilitate the placement, supervision, and evaluation of students in work-based learning environments.
8. Ability to participate in the marketing efforts for the program.

Brief Job Duties:
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

1. Responsible for planning, organizing and presenting instruction and instructional environments, curricula, and activities that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational. professional and social development.
2. Establishes and maintains standards of behavior required to provide a positive conducive learning environment for all students.
3. Communicates verbally and through written word effectively with colleagues, administration, parents, community members, and students.
4. Participates in faculty and/or District meetings and the sponsorship of off-site student activities
5. Maintain all professional certifications
6. Exercisie knowledge of students' growth, development and learning through the lense fo diversity.
7. Follow District policies and maintain student records in a timely manner.
8. Establish and maintain dual enrollment relationships with post-secondary schools.
9. Evaluate student learning and performance on a regular basis and record and report in a timely manner.
10. Assists in marketing activities to promote the program
11. Assist students with job shadowing, internships and employment opportunities and community projects in the related fields
12. Assists the Director in the development of a program budget
13. Maintains an active Program Advisory Committee
