Special Education Teacher, grades 3-8
2024 Extended School Year

Length Of Assignment:
4 weeks, July 8- August 1, 2024; 8am-12pm; Monday-Thursday

Located a ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, RSU#23 is a 675 student district seeking candidates for a special education teacher to support students in our intensive needs program during our Extended School Year program. Candidates will be compensated for an additional two hours of prep time per week. The successful candidates should possess the following:


CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Maine DOE teaching certification (#282)
  • Valid Maine DOE Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safety Care trained, or ability to participating in two day training prior to July 8, 2024
  • Provide direct integrated instruction in all academic subject areas, including social/emotional and/or executive skill development, as well as functional life skills
  • Implement Positive Behavior Support Plans
  • Consult with team members, including OT, PT, Speech to provide appropriate programming
  • Complete progress monitoring
  • Supervise Educational Technicians
  • Possess strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in supporting students with various learning styles and needs
  • Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of technology
