Waterville Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Assistant Principal to support the development of a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving school community. The ideal candidate is a collaborative instructional leader who works in partnership with the Principal to support students, staff, and families, while advancing academic excellence and a strong, supportive school culture.

 

The Assistant Principal Position

  • Year-round position (260 days, including professional development days)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Principal in the recruitment, selection, supervision, and retention of staff. 
  • Support the supervision and evaluation of teachers and support staff.
  • Assist in overseeing the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
  • Ensure student records are maintained in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate activities related to student assessment, placement, and support services; facilitate referrals to appropriate resources as needed.
  • Support the development and monitoring of the school budget in collaboration with the Principal.
  • Foster strong communication with families and promote meaningful family engagement in student learning.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment that supports positive student behavior and high expectations.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of required local, state, and federal reports.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Education from an accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Certification as an Assistant Building Administrator (#045) or equivalent. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others.
  • Relevant experience in teaching, administration, and organizational planning.
