MVMS- IMMEDIATE OPENING: Long-Term Substitute Grade 6 Science

Mountain Valley Middle School in Mexcico, ME is looking for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher- Grade 6 Science to work as part of our team, for the remainder of the 2023-2024 SY.

 Are you passionate about igniting curiosity and fostering a love for science in young learners? We are currently seeking a dedicated 6th grade science long term substitute teacher to join our team at Mountain Valley Middle School. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students, engage them in hands-on exploration, and cultivate their scientific understanding. 

Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement comprehensive and interactive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum objectives, emphasizing inquiry-based learning and critical thinking skills. 
• Utilize effective classroom management strategies to establish a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success and engagement. ? Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs and styles, ensuring all students have the opportunity to excel in science. 
• Incorporate hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and technology to enhance learning experiences and deepen students' understanding of scientific concepts.
•  Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing meaningful feedback to guide their academic growth.

**This is a Sub position and is Temporary for the remainder of the 2023-2024 SY.**

We are 45-60 minutes from Lewiston/Auburn and 90-120 minutes from Portland. We have affordable housing, great outdoor recreation and children who need you!

Requirements/Preferred:

BA or BS required, extensive coursework in math preferred but not required, eligibility for Math(7-12) certification from the Maine DOE preferred, but not required.
