Job Highlights

Welcome! We are a small, rural elementary school serving around a 100 students from pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade in the Town of Sedgwick Maine. Sedgwick is a beautiful coastal community  just east of Penobscot Bay along the Eggemoggin Reach. Bordered by the towns of Brooklin, Penobscot, Blue Hill, Brooksville, and Little Deer Isle, Sedgwick is at the heart of the Blue hill Peninsula.

 

Our seasoned teachers create a positive learning environment through project based learning that focuses on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). We prioritize social emotional learning and fostering an intimate classroom experience. We have extensive walking trails, an active garden/greenhouse program and after school activities.

 

We are looking for someone to join a dynamic team and make a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse learning needs. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver daily lesson plans and instructional material for an average of 8-12 students, with a maximum amount of 15; in a small group setting.
  • Help students one-on-one if extra assistance is needed.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Updating daily attendance and creating daily session reports for each student.
  • Collaborate with other educators, parents, and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. 
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies accordingly. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records. 

 

Requirements 

-Bachelor or Master’s degree in education

-Proven experience working with students with diverse learning needs.

-Strong communication and collaboration skills.

-Criminal History Record Check (CHRC)
