Brewer High School 2024-2025 - American Sign Language Teacher (9-12)

The Brewer School Department is accepting applications for an American Sign Language Teacher position at Brewer High School for the 2024-2025 school year. 

The ideal candidate will possess/have:

• ASLTA certification and teacher certification (and CHRC Approval)
• Degree in American Sign Language and Deaf Studies
• Evidence of fluency in American Sign Language
• Knowledge and use of ASL for a minimum of five years
• Experience in proficiency-based education 
• Belief that students learn in different ways and in different time frames
• Understanding and implementation of assessment practices that separate content from habits of work
• Team-oriented person with high school training, philosophy, and experience
• Recent experience with assessment, rubric and performance-based learning
• Computer literacy and ability to integrate technology in the classroom
• Experience with inclusive special education
• Extracurricular and/or coaching interests
• Ability to pass a background check
