Job Description
Desired Qualifications:
- Hold current Vocational Instructor certificate in subject area
- Verification of seven (7) years of career experience in subject area or five (5) years verification of career experience with an Associate Degree in the subject of three (3) years verification of career experience with a Bachelor's Degree in subject.
- Possess or strive to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in related area.
- Hold and maintain all applicable current licenses and standards of the subject trade area
- Red Cross and/or American Heart Association certified in CPR and First Aid
Reports to: Director of Waldo County Technical Center
Job Goal: To develop in each student an awareness and understanding of occupations within the Early Childhood and K-8 Education coupled with the basic skills and knowledge of the field.
To instill in each student safe working habits, the importance of continued education and the assets of reliability, competence, loyalty, and dependability.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Teaching of necessary job entry skills to students enrolled in the program.
- To evaluate student performance on a regular basis and complete required grading in a timely manner.
- To assist in the development of a program curriculum with well-defined goals and objectives in line with the Maine Learning Results.
- To coordinate jobs, projects, and classroom work within the program in order to meet the goals and objectives of the curriculum.
- To create placement opportunities regarding student placement in local daycare centers, and schools grades K-8. Evaluate placement performance based on rubrics created by the teacher and shown to students before placement.
- To maintain the learning and work area in a safe condition and to keep all equipment properly repaired and ready to use.
- To interview all prospective students
- To assist program students with employment opportunities in related fields
- To develop a program budget for the Director
- To make recommendations on the purchase of equipment for the program
- To support student involvement in vocational related student organizations
- To work with the community and involve students in community projects within the scope of the curriculum
- To maintain an active advisory committee
- Other duties as reasonably required
Terms of Employment: 180 days
Evaluation The performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director following provisions of the Committee's policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
