Summer Steam Camp Supervisor 2024

Description

MCI is looking for qualified applicants with the experience and/or ability to supervise our overnight Summer STEAM Program running from Saturday, June 29th-Saturday, July 27th. This four week summer position requires some, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

 

  • Attend all residential training meetings (scheduled for June 27-28, 2023)
  • Oversight and safety of approximately 115 campers throughout the Summer STEAM Program experience
  • Routine care and distribution of medications as required, as well as recording information as needed
  • Oversight of daily activities, including afternoon/evening & weekend excursions
  • Daily check in with program participants
  • Attend weekly residential supervisory meetings
  • Hold weekly residential meetings with program participants
  • Conflict resolution as needed
  • Coordinate travel opportunities with Director of Summer Programs
  • Maintain a clean and presentable living environment within the residential setting
  • Ensure that program participants are following the rules and regulations set forth by MCI

 

Amenities:

 

  • Supervisors will have their own living space on campus for the duration of the program
  • Breakfast, lunch & dinner will be proved in MCI’s Dining Facility
  • In most cases, transportation to many of Maine’s most scenic & iconic locations

 

Founded in 1866, Maine Central Institute is an independent town academy serving students in grades 9-12 from surrounding local communities as well as international students from over 30 countries. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to work at an independent residential boarding school.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Prior summer programming experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in use of instructional technology; experience with a 1:1 program a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with students, parents, peers, and supervisors.
