The Auburn School Committee is seeking an innovative and exemplary leader to serve as their next Superintendent of Schools.

Auburn is the fifth largest city in Maine, a diverse community located on the banks of the Androscoggin River and nestled in the foothills of Western Maine.

The Auburn School Department currently enrolls 3,200 students in six Pre-K-6 Elementary Schools, one Middle School, a new state-of-the-art 9-12 High School that houses a satellite CTE program from our twin city of Lewiston, and a 9-12 Alternative School.  Auburn Schools proudly rank highly against national standards.

The Auburn School Committee will hire a strong visionary leader to lead its schools.  This position offers the opportunity to join a faculty, staff, and administration focused on continuous improvement and best practices across an engaged and supportive district.

  • An understanding of the social and emotional needs of both students and staff, as well as experience working with a diverse community and creating an equitable climate of respect, belonging and safety
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of federal and Maine state school law
  • An advanced graduate degree is preferred and a Master’s Degree is required. This position offers a regionally competitive salary and benefits package.

Eligibility for Maine superintendent certification (010) is required.
