The Lennox Outdoor Leadership Center (LOLC) offers year-round outdoor programming as part of The Hyde School organization, a non-profit enterprise encompassing wilderness education, private boarding campus, teacher training programs and national family workshops. The Hyde School is a nationally recognized leader in character education. The LOLC campus is in Eustis, Maine on 650 acres of pristine Maine outdoors and Flagstaff Lake. Programming consists of wilderness therapy, outdoor leadership, character development, adventure, community service, field biology and primarily serves the families of the 150 students enrolled on Hyde’s residential campus in Bath, Maine. The mission of the program is to provide experiences that offer individuals and families defining moments of growth in the wilderness.

Position qualifications- BS, BA, Four-year degree; WFR, CPR (preferred). The successful candidate will have significant previous wilderness experience involving education and trip-leading on water and land and is an exceptional teacher/leader; a willingness to spend large amounts of time outdoors, with short time between trips; good decision-making skills; ability to operate independently of supervision. Desirable: First aid training specifically CPR, WFA, Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness EMT.  1+ Years trip leading experience for a major Outdoor Program, i.e. NOLS, OB, SCA, ETC.  Demonstrated organizational skills: logistics, supervision, budget experience, program building, etc.; experience working with both adult and adolescent populations.  Extensive personal experience in the wilderness. LNT, guiding certifications, or experience with ropes course facilitation.

Position responsibilities- When on our Bath, ME campus, this teacher/guide will be an integral part of our Hyde School faculty and direct assistant to the Lennox Outdoor Leadership Director. When on the Eustis campus, this position requires sole management of outdoor trips, general maintenance of equipment and logistics for pre-trip planning and post-trip cleanup. The position will be responsible for running successful programming in the back country for up to a couple weeks at a time. Overall assistance in program planning, development, training, and leadership in the field, as well as various office administrative duties.
