7-12 ELA Teacher
Houlton Middle High School, 26-27 School Year
Qualifications:
Valid Maine Department of Education teaching certification with proper endorsement, ELA 7-12 or K-8 with experiencee with middle school instruction.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing learning opportunities in the area of English Language Arts
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction for grades 7-12
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
- Regularly assess each student’s academic and social growth, maintain appropriate and timely records, and prepare progress reports
- Communicate frequently with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, student information system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss student’s progress as it relates to curriculum
- Create an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools
- Continue professional growth through various means such as professional learning communities, conferences, workshops, professional memberships and readings, etc.
- Administer standardized and common assessments in accordance with district and state assessment schedules
- Regularly utilize student data to inform instruction
- Maintain technological proficiency for purposes of instruction, reporting and communicating
- Vary instructional techniques to address individual learning styles
- Participate in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events based on the responsibilities of the assigned position
- Other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Principal
