Waynflete seeks an experienced dance educator to teach part-time in the fee-based, after school* Enrichment Program beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. A competitive applicant will be experienced as a dance educator and choreographer with a strong grounding in contemporary and modern dance, and experience with additional genres. The ideal candidate will have a sense of humor, artistic vision, and a predisposition for innovation and collaboration. Teaching experience with students in kindergarten through eighth grade is preferred. 

*Enrichment programming is offered 3:30-5:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 12:30-2:00 on Wednesdays

Responsibilities include: 

  • Designing and teaching age-appropriate classes that might include creative movement, dance technique for different genres, and improvisation and composition
  • Working in collaboration with the full-time dance teacher to design classes that build upon the skills explored in the curricular program
  • Choosing appropriate accompaniment for use in class and performance
  • Shaping and/or choreographing movement studies and dances for two concerts per year (December and May)
  • Reporting to the Director of Auxiliary Programs and Director of Performing Arts
  • Building effective relationships with students, families, and colleagues
