Hourly wage: $13.20-$16.20

Job Summary:

Teach youth the skills necessary to do gut rehabilition or conscrution of a house and to provide supportive guidance and encourage the development of their leadership skills. Also works in conjunction with the Construction Supervisor to establish and maintain connesction between classroom and construction site curriculum. Duties include:

  • Provides vocational education and assist in vocational and personal counseling and development of leadership skills for YouthBuild students in conjunction with other YouthBuild staff.
  • Responsible for the construction site, maintaining production safety and interface with subcontractors and inspectors, in the absence of the Construction Supervisor.
  • Teaches carpentry skills including demolition, rough framing, roofing, drywall, and finish carpentry to YouthBuild trainees.

Essential Functions: .

Communication: Functions that pertain to various forms of interacting and collaborating with others.

  • Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing individual goals and providing support and information to employees and managers as needed.

Knowledge: Functions that pertain to learning and maintaining levels of information necessary for success.

  • Teaches carpentry skills including demolition, rough framing, roofing, drywall, and finish carpentry to YouthBuild trainees.
  • Teaches the safe, proper use and handling of all hand tools, power tools and equipment.
  • Provides vocational education and assist in vocational and personal counseling and development of leadership skills for YouthBuild students in conjunction with other YouthBuild staff.
  • Evaluates students’ knowledge and skills in construction.

Administration: Functions that pertain to daily activities of running a business

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in participant case records, service unit reports, timesheets and other appropriate reports.
  • Responsible for the construction site, maintaining production safety and interface with subcontractors and inspectors, in the absence of the Construction Supervisor.
  • Responsible for overall safety enforcement.
