JOB TITLE: Rural Adult Education & Digital Literacy Advisor  

INFORMATION: This position is paid for by contracted service and grants working in Greater Franklin County to provide digital literacy instruction and basic adult education services to residents of Franklin County. Goals for this grant include providing three tiers of digital literacy including basic, intermediate, and business related classes by traveling to all parts of the county with trips to every town to provide instruction. Travel for the position is reimbursable. In addition, this position will be the touchstone for MSAD #58 and Rangeley residents who want to obtain a high school credential and or workforce certification.


REPORTS TO:   Director of Adult & Community Education

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  •     Ability to instruct all levels of students in computer literacy
  •     Willingness to work with all students in a respectful and supportive manner
  •     CHRC Approval from Maine Department of Education
  •     Excellent organizational skills
  •     Strong customer service skills
  •     Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  •     Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Internet, email, Zoom, and Social Media
  •     Fluency in Mac OSX, WIndows 10, IOS, Google Chrome, and Android
  •     Excellent oral and written communication skills
  •     Valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation
  •     Bachelor’s degree and Maine teaching certification a plus
  •     Understanding or willingness to learn adult education and learning theories                                           



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide in-person instruction for community members learning computer literacy
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning 
  • Use technology to enhance the learning environment.
  • Recruit and schedule students for and help market the program to the community
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established learner goals 
  • Assess the accomplishments of students 
  • Assist in the collection of student and program data including attendance, progress, and testing 
  • Work with site hosts to provide a safe and clean environment
  • Coordinate with other instructors and staff on student progress and goals
  • Provide course work and assessments that meet Franklin County Adult Education Standards
  • Uses College and Career Readiness Standards in developing and delivering coursework.
  • Attends adult education staff meetings, professional development and state training.

  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Up to 35 hours a week, for 38 weeks of the school year. Continuation of the position from year-to-year is contingent upon grant funding and successfully meeting benchmarks set forth by our funders. This position requires extensive travel throughout Franklin County.
