Position Overview:
RSU 48-Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta, Maine, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School PE/Health Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical education and health, a commitment to student wellness, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. The Middle School PE/Health Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student progress, and fostering an understanding of the importance of physical fitness and health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Maine state standards.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
• Provide feedback and support to students to help them improve their physical fitness and health knowledge.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student learning and development.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education and health instruction.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid Maine teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
• Proven experience teaching physical education and health at the middle school level.
• Strong knowledge of Maine standards and best instructional practices.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administrators.
