Purpose:
The position provides one on one support for individual students with disabilities within the school setting. The main role will be to support a student with academic and functional needs within their educational program, as well as playground and cafeteria supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic academic school subjects.
- Knowledge of cultural competencies, classroom management, and student engagement practices.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Maine Ed Tech I, II or Ill Certification.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and families.
- Ability to supervise student activities , providing a safe and supportive environment.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with students.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise written and/or computer generated reports.
- Ability to motivate students and develop appropriate rapport with staff and students.
- Ability to be flexible in work assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate or equivalent and one (1) year experience working with children in an educational setting.
