Join our Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time (40 hours per week; benefits eligible) Family and Community Support Coordinator within the Family Enrichment department. The Family and Community Support Coordinator will work with low-income individuals, families, and multigenerational families to increase their self-sufficiency by helping them access community resources and assess their eligibility for a variety of benefits and programs. This is a hybrid position working out of the Rockland office, your home and to meet with families in their home or community settings.

Location: Rockland, Maine

Family and Community Support Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Assist with applications, monitor applications for services, work in conjunction with other community service providers.
  • Assist families to achieve financial independence by helping to create individual service plans, develop employment skills, and identify employment opportunities.
  • The successful candidate will be comfortable working with adults and children who may experience crisis and/or homelessness.
  • The candidate will have strong listening skills, creative problem-solving skills, ability to think outside of the box, and willingness to learn of services that are available to assist families.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong community partnerships.

Family and Community Support Coordinator Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Social Work or related field, and 3-5 years successful experience working with individuals and families.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
  • Working knowledge of area resources for low income individuals.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client files and information.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.

The rate of pay for this position starts at $20.34 per hour, and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience. Those with related education and experience are encouraged to apply.
