POSITION SUMMARY The Early Childhood Clinician will meet weekly expectations in providing direct clinical services to clients in a special education program for preschoolers. He/she is responsible to assure there is consistency in the supports provided to clients receiving services; that communication to and among team members is effective; that duplication of efforts is eliminated; bureaucracy is reduced; that the small agency feeling is maintained; that a holistic approach is provided to people supported; and best practices are used.

Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Clinician (LCPC preferred).
  • Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum disorder.
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones and behavioral interventions.
  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications within 60 days of hire (provided by UCP).
  • Must obtain Safety Care certification within 30 days of hire (provided by UCP).
  • Valid State of Maine driver license, reliable transportation with proof of registration and insurance, and willingness to use own transportation for work.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct clinical services to clients in a special education program for preschoolers 10-12 hours/week.
  • Provide feedback on assessments and treatment plans, provide feedback regarding how to implement BCBA recommendations, ensure paperwork deadlines are met.
  • Provide on-call feedback for support teachers working in client’s homes to provide 28 specialized service.

REGULATORY KNOWLEDGE

  • Contractual and MaineCare guidelines
  • Department of Education rules, including chapter 33
  • Quality improvement plan
  • Behavior and restraint regulations
  • Confidentiality, HIPPA, and privacy laws and regulations

IMPLEMENTATION OF INDIVIDUAL TRATMENT PLAN PROCEDURES

  • Ensure consistency is implemented each person’s plans and protocols
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to support people with a wide variety of needs
  • Demonstrate a “people first” philosophy
  • Teach approaches and strategies to direct reports and colleagues
  • Develop and maintain a warm and friendly environment that is conducive to the achievement of optimal development of each person supported
  • Make the health, safety, protection of rights and the development of the people supported his/her primary responsibilities

LEADERSHIP

  • Reinforce highly integrated communication and collaboration within and among the team.
  • Participate in a minimum of two events per year (fundraiser, community, promotional, etc.) to assist UCP in living up to its mission and/or meeting its organizational objectives.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Actively participate in professional development activities and trainings to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for work in the human services field.
  • Take active steps toward improving job performance by pursuing goals identified in annual performance appraisals, performance improvement plans, and constructive feedback from management and/or peers.

DOCUMENTATION & WRITING

  • Complete documentation and writing responsibilities in a timely, accurate, actual, objective, detailed, and neat manner using correct spelling and grammar.
  • Review, sign, and document appropriate action on all reports in a timely manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 33 pounds (or ¼ of own bodyweight), push and pull against potential resistance, and implement non-physical and physical interventions with people supported when needed.
  • Adequate vision, reading, writing and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to maintain assigned work hours, having sufficient endurance to perform tasks over extended periods.
