Qualifications: Maine DOE Ed Tech III Certification preferred. Experience in small rural schools desired. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, great flexibility, and a collaborative style. Comfort with year-round travel to a remote island is essential.

School & Community Information: The Monhegan School is a one-room school serving grades pre-K through 8. Three-year-old students admitted at times of low enrollment. High school students live on the mainland and attend mainland schools of their choosing. Monhegan Island is located 12 miles from the mainland in midcoast Maine. There are 30-50 year-round residents of Monhegan Plantation. The primary winter employment includes lobstering and property caretaking, and provision of basic services.
