Title: KITCHEN MANAGER
To serve students nutritious and attractive meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness.
Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health safety and sanitation.
Manage kitchen operations breakfast and lunch service for Fairfield School (production kitchen) and satellite sites at Young School and Pre-K sites.
Implement organizational techniques to maximize staff efficiency.
Complete daily production records.
Place weekly orders for food and supplies.
Maintain inventory using FIFO and operate computerized Point of Sale system.
Manage student account balances and address parents' inquiries.
Provide input in menu planning.
Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to understand and follow large-scale food preparation instructions and USDA standardized recipes producing meals in accordance with USDA meal pattern requirements and nutrition standards.
Creativity, enthusiasm and passion for preparing and serving nutritious breakfasts and lunches for children grades Pre-K through 2.
Efficient, orderly operation of school kitchen.
Coordinate meals being sent to Young, Pre-K and SLC sites.
Prepare and implement production and cleaning schedules.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Friendly, positive attitude.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced team environment.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
Ability to properly and safely operate kitchen equipment.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard school cafeteria environment
High school diploma or GED
Must have or be eligible for CHRC (Criminal Records Check) with Maine Dept of Ed and background check.
ServeSafe Certification current or within 6 months of employment.
Management experience; school foodservice experience a plus.
FLSA Status: Nonexempt. This is a school year position, 7 hours a day - 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Competitive pay based on experience, 2 weeks paid vacation, paid holidays, sick time and health and dental benefits.
This position has a flexible start date and could be May 18, 2020. Possibility of summer hours with Summer Food Service Program if desired.
