Job Description: Pond Cove is a large elementary school with 550+ students in grades K-4 and 90+ staff. We are high-performing with expectations of excellence and rigor in all areas of an educator's professional practice. We are seeking two kindergarten teachers that are positive, hard-working, and effective educators with high expectations for themselves and others. One position is permanent and one position is one year only.
The successful candidate will join a team of five other kindergarten teachers (a total of six). This role includes planning, designing, and delivering engaging and hands-on lessons and implementing assessments to measure student growth and progress across all curriculum areas, including phonics, reading, math, social studies, and science. Pond Cove currently utilizes the Lucy Calkins Units of Study for reading, writing, and phonics, and Everyday Math. The positions include covering student recesses and/or lunches and collaborating with a large number of colleagues including school social workers, school counselors, special educators, extended learning coaches, and building principals.
Certification Requirements: Maine Elementary Teaching (020)

- Provide students with engaging, hands-on, and high-interest lessons/learning opportunities
- Meet student needs, including social-emotional, academic, and behavior
- Share ownership of students for all aspects of learning and fulfill supervision duties (e.g., recess, lunch, etc.)
- Be able to pivot quickly when changes happen (e.g., schedule changes, support and attend school assemblies and events, fulfill coverage needs, etc.)
