The Center for Teaching and Learning, an independent K-8 demonstration school in Edgecomb, Maine, founded by Nancie Atwell, is seeking an enthusiastic and caring person to assist in three elementary classrooms. The position begins immediately, is paid hourly, and could be full or part-time. The school day runs from 8:00-3:00.
The K-4 Assistant Teacher will spend time in each of three classrooms, kindergarten, grades 1-2, and grades 3-4. They will help the classroom teacher by meeting with individual students, recording books, putting away materials, and preparing materials. Most of the academic time will be spent assisting during writing workshop. Assistant teachers also assist with overall building organization and maintenance, completing daily chores such as wiping down surfaces, watering plants, and organizing student materials.
