Saint James School | Biddeford, ME

Posted Date 3/26/2024
Description

Saint James School is a small Catholic school located in the heart of Biddeford. Saint James has a supportive staff that helps each other and it is a positive working environment.   Staff  works together for the best interest of students.  Our unofficial motto is "kids first".   Teachers are caring and devoted, working together to provide the best educational opportunities for their students.  Teachers differentiate instruction so that each student can work to their fullest potential.  Students attend mass on Wednesdays.  It is a really special place to work!

Saint James School has two openings next year for a kindergarten and a first grade teacher.  The teacher would have one group all day, teaching literacy, math, science, social studies and religion.  Students attend STREAM (Science-Technology-Religion-Engineering-Art-Math) class, PE class, music class, art class, library class.  Students in kindergarten are assessed using ESGI softward.  Kindergarten and first graders both are assessed using the DRA (Developmental Reading Analysis) and take the NWEA to drive instruction. The teacher should be able to work with diverse learners in the classroom, meeting their developmental needs and taking them as far as they can go.   The teacher would work closely with our the primary team to open the world of learning to our students!  There is a common planning time so the teachers can work with their grade level partners together as a team.   Saint James uses the Hartford curriculum to teach reading and math.  Our math program is HTM Into Math, our phonics uses Phonics Into Reading and the classroom uses both leveled books and decodable texts for reading, but the focus is on the individual curriculum needs of our students.

Recruitment, hiring, and termination decisions will be free from discrimination with regard to an individual's race, color, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, veteran status, marital status, or mental or physical handicap unrelated to the performance of the duties of the position. This policy shall be interpreted in a manner consistent with the religious mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
