Harpswell Coastal Academy is seeking a part-time school nurse to support the health, wellness and safety of our small school community.


  • Knowledge of adolescent and young adult growth and development;
  • Knowledge of nursing care for adolescents and young adults;
  • An understanding of the school health context, especially: DOE guidelines and State regulations, school health policies/procedures, parent/guardian communication practices, and documentation and follow-up routines;
  • Competency in basic emergency care;
  • Familiarity with community health resources;
  • Recent practice as a registered nurse;
  • Ability to support the implementation of COVID-19 procedures and protocols; and
  • A drive to promote the health and safety of all students, advocating especially for the needs of underserved and underrepresented students.

Candidate must possess or be eligible for Maine DOE School Nurse Certification (endorsement 524).  Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) is required. Compensation based on prior experience, knowledge and ability.

Harpswell Coastal Academy is a Maine public charter school focused on core academics, entrepreneurship, and social change.  It serves approximately 200 students in grades 5 - 12 from twenty-four towns and is in its 9th year of existence.

Grades 5-8 are located at our Harpswell Campus, nestled conveniently among many coves and preserves that serve as a natural classroom. Grades 9-12 are located on Brunswick Landing, steps away from internships and college courses offered through Southern Maine Community College.
