Special Education Long Term Substitute

RSU 87 is seeking a long term substitute teacher to join our special education team in the resource room at Suzanne M. Smith Elementary School.  This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, desire to be a part of a team, knowledge of special education paperwork and ability to teach reading, writing and math.  Maine DOE 282 endorsement preferred. 

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

 

~Ability to provide specially designed instruction and consultation services in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning 

~Experience implementing positive behavior intervention plans

~Experience writing IEPs

~Ability to coordinate and lead IEP meetings

~Experience completing special education paperwork

~Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations

~Excellent communication skills

~Ability to supervise educational technicians

~Willingness to be flexible
