Description

Camp Chewonki is a nature-based overnight camp and expedition-based youth leadership program for boys, girls, and non-binary children. Overnight campers are aged 8-15 and spend 10 days or 3 weeks at camp. The overnight camp program focuses on building cabin community, learning skills and knowledge in a core curriculum, and experiencing backcountry travel on multi-day remote cabin trips. Participants in our Leadership Expeditions are aged 14-18 and spend 3 weeks or 5 weeks learning leadership skills, remote travel, and a robust sense of self. 

 

The Campus Head is responsible for supporting campers and cabin staff and facilitating the creation of a campus wide community. The Campus Head directly manages the Age Group Coordinators (2-3) and provides guidance and support to all cabin staff. The Campus Head strives to personally know as many campers as possible and work as the primary liaison on the Director Team to manage camper needs. The Campus Head expected to support the growth and development of all cabin counselors/Age Group Coordinator staff in attaining their personal best as an educator, caretaker, and employee.

 

PREREQUISITES:

  • Experience working in camp, or similar educational spaces

  • Experience supervising or managing others

  • Experience with conflict resolution, preferred 

  • At Least 21 years old (to drive participants)

  • Valid driver’s license - you must have a  driving record that can be approved by Chewonki’s Insurance Carrier, 

    • Attend Driver’s Training as necessary

  • Must Pass Background Criminal Check

  • The Chewonki Foundation requires that 100% of staff are vaccinated against COVID-19, as allowed for by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination will be required upon acceptance of a job offer.
