Speech and Language Pathologist for the start of the 2023-2024 school year

Are you looking to work in a school system that provides the structure and support for special education case managers/providers to accomplish their many roles and responsibilities? We have a great department here in MSAD 52 and we are looking for dedicated teachers to be a part of our team.

The Speech and Language Pathologist promotes and develops successful learning for students who are eligible for IDEA services, provide diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language and hearing disorders, helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum. 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Masters Degree in Speech and Language Pathology;
  • Valid State of Maine certification with appropriate licenses;
  • Experience in structured teaching and technology; 
  • Experience in student positive behavior supports and collaborative problem solving or willingness to develop in these areas; 
  • Ability to provide leadership and training to staff in areas of specialization; 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents, in a variety of settings; 
  • Ability to write valid IEP’s and to follow IDEA procedures; 
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons; 
  • The ability to work harmoniously with others; 
  • Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, district curriculum framework, education and special education law and appropriate instructional subjects. 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Assess, screen, and evaluate students and effectively share results with parents/guardians and staff, and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state regulations. 
  • Develop and implement individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairment and assists with IEPs for students with speech/language as a service on an annual basis.
  • Provide consultative services for staff by sharing and demonstrating specific techniques and working with school teams to facilitate relevant and consistent interventions for targeted students. 
  • Maintain hearing devices and coordinate services for students in collaboration with their school nurse and contact Audiologist in accordance with student IEPs or 504 Accommodation Plans. 
  • Maintain records and information concerning individual students in the prescribed confidential manner. 
  • Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services related to expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language. 
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents/guardians and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the therapy program. 
  • Maintains and upgrades knowledge and skills through attendance at workshops and conferences and participation in appropriate educational and professional organizations.

Base Salary: $42,785.00
