The Massabesic Center for Adult Learning (MCAL) has the following vacancy for your consideration:


POSITION: Student Advisor and Program Support Specialist

REPORTS TO: MACE Director

SYNOPSIS: The Advisor/Support Specialist is responsible for program marketing, student support and advising, the
development and maintenance of community enrichment programming, and the entry and compilation of student data.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree required
2. Experience in advising and/or guidance counseling is preferred.
3. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required.
4. Marketing experience is desirable.
5. Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
6. Knowledge of online marketing tools as well as traditional marketing methods, with the ability/willingness to acquire
    new knowledge in this area.
7. Experience in clerical work preferred.
8. Exceptional ethics and adherence to confidentiality.

WORKING HOURS: Full-time Monday-Friday, generally afternoons and evenings.
WORK YEAR: Predominantly school year, with some summer work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets with prospective students, completes program intake procedure.
2. Accurately maintains data and student records.
3. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
4. Uses information from intake, assessments, and inventories to place students in the appropriate academic setting,
    tutoring sessions, and/or elective programs based on students’ identified needs, interests, and plans.
5. Works with students to ensure proper course and/or career credentialing program selection.
6. Provides guidance to students as they search for higher education and career opportunities.
7. Works closely with students to ensure successful course/credentialing program completion.
8. Follow-up regularly with students on academic progress.
9. Administers CASAS, HiSET, Accuplacer, and other assessments with consistency and fidelity.
10. Builds relationships with businesses and community partners to provide maximum support and opportunity to
     students.
11. Creates and maintains records as required.
12. Works closely with local and state agencies to stay informed of all opportunities, attends training, seminars, and
      meetings as needed.
13. Post classes, events and services to social media venues.
14. Maintains and updates program website.
15. Uses current marketing strategies effectively, and keeps up to date with emerging marketing trends.
16. Is responsible for the design and editing of biannual brochures.
17. Prepares classrooms, rosters, and other forms for evening programming.
18. Assists with state, local, and federal reporting requirements throughout the fiscal year.
19. Performs multiple duties in state-mandated databases including but not limited to registrations, transcripts, NRS tables,
      reports, and other items requested by Maine DoE.
20. Attends team/staff meetings for program planning and seeks out professional development opportunities as needed.
21. Maintains professional certifications as necessary.
22. Other duties as assigned.
