Position Title: Bus Monitor

Location: Central Office, Kittery School District
Reports To: Director of Special Services

Position Start Date: As soon as a qualified candidate is found

Required Certification: (If applicable) (or certifiable in the State of Maine)

Application Deadline: Until a suitable candidate is found.

The Kittery School District is currently seeking a qualified bus monitor.  The individual will be accompanying a student with special needs being transported daily (Monday - Friday) by van to a special purpose private school. The van runs from Kittery to the Sanford area on mornings and afternoons on days school is in session. Position is approximately 20 hours per week (approx. 7:10am - 8:45am and 1:15pm - 2:45pm).

 

The ideal candidate for this position will

  • Maintain confidentiality of all student, family and employee related information
  • Review and reinforce appropriate behaviors on the bus
  • Assist with managing student behaviors on the bus as issues arise
  • Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families
  • Participate and successfully complete required training, as directed by the supervisor
  • Communicate any concerns immediately to the Special Education Director
  • Perform any other appropriate duties the Special Education Director/Supervisor deems necessary 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check

 

 

You must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.
