Breakwater School is accepting applications for 1 to 2 part-time afterschool teachers in our vibrant and dynamic AfterCare and Enrichment Programs. 1 position available is the lead Middle School afterschool teacher.
About the Position:
We seek creative, compassionate, and energetic AfterCare & Enrichment teachers who have a strong interest in child-centered learning and community building. AfterCare & Enrichment Teachers direct activities and ensure students' safety and well-being. Candidates interested in leading specialized group activities will be given special consideration [e.g. culinary arts, outdoor and wilderness activities, photography, film making, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), dance, music, fine arts, creative writing, jewelry making, swimming, lacrosse, etc.).
Our AfterCare and Enrichment programs serve children from Breakwater School as well as students from surrounding public and independent schools.
Schedule and Start Date:
Hours for the position are part-time during the school year, Mondays through Thursdays from 2:30 to 6:00 pm, and from 1:00 to 6:00 pm on Fridays, with opportunities to staff our week-long school vacation camps in February, April, June, and August. The position begins in early March.
• History of professional work experience with young children
• Demonstrated ability to engage in positive relationships with staff, supervisors, children, and families
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience driving a 15 passenger van and/or mini bus highly preferred

Breakwater offers more than 30 classes per six-week session providing transportation to eight public schools. In addition, Breakwater has a full and varied summer program that runs in one and two-week sessions. Breakwater's programs are housed in three separate buildings surrounded by large fields for outdoor play and supplemented by a 21 acre nature preserve.
