Special Education Teacher, Life Skills K-5

RSU 87 is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative candidate to join our special education team in supporting students with disabilities in grades K-5.  This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, desire to be a part of a team, knowledge of special education paperwork and ability to teach literacy, math, functional life skills and social skills.  Maine DOE 282 or 286 endorsement preferred. A $2,000 stipend is provided.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

 

~Ability to provide specially designed instruction and consultation services in literacy, math social skills and functional life skills

~Experience implementing positive behavior intervention plans

~Experience writing IEPs

~Ability to coordinate and lead IEP meetings

~Experience completing special education paperwork

~Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations

~Excellent communication skills

~Ability to supervise educational technicians

~Willingness to be flexible
