Join the dynamic team at Westbrook Regional Vocational Center as a Class A and Class B CDL Driving Instructor.

About the Position

The CDL Instructor has the following responsibilities:
* Teach and Empower High School students: Equip students with essential job entry skills necessary for success in the transportation sector through engaging and interactive instruction.
* Performance Monitoring: Implement rigorous assessment strategies to regularly evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback to drive improvement.
* Curriculum Innovation: Refine and deliver a program curriculum aligned with industry standards and focused on achieving measurable learning outcomes.
* Hands-On Learning: Facilitate real-world learning experiences by coordinating projects and classroom activities that immerse students in the practical aspects of CDL training.
* Effective Communication: Foster open communication channels with parents to ensure they are informed about their child's progress and actively involved in their educational journey.
* Safety Advocacy: Cultivate a culture of safety by maintaining a clean and hazard-free learning environment and ensuring all equipment is well-maintained and safe for use.
* Student Engagement: Conduct student interviews to assess readiness and enthusiasm for the program, inspiring a passion for lifelong learning and professional growth.
* Career Support: Provide personalized guidance and assistance to students seeking employment opportunities in the transportation industry, connecting them with relevant resources and networks.
* Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving licensing regulations and industry standards to ensure program compliance and relevance.
* Resource Management: Develop and manage a comprehensive program budget, making informed recommendations for equipment purchases and resource allocation.
* Community Integration: Actively engage with local businesses and community partners to create meaningful learning opportunities and promote industry collaboration.
* Student Leadership Development: Encourage student involvement in vocational-related student organizations, fostering leadership skills and a sense of belonging within the industry community.

Qualifications include:
* Successful experience in the transportation industry, particularly in a supervisory or instructor role
* Class A & B classroom endorsement as well as Class A and B range and road endorsements
* Willingness to complete requirements for State of Maine certification, including fingerprinting and a background check
* Successful experience working with adolescents in a mentoring/advising/teaching capacity

About the School
Westbrook Regional Vocational Center (WRVC) is a collaborative Career and Technical Education (CTE) school of up to 400 learners and 25 staff. Our 15 programs serve 12 sending schools and offer cutting-edge, rigorous, and relevant CTE learning that prepares students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers. CTE programs at WRVC blend content with real-world applications and live work-based learning to prepare students for college and career pathways. Students work in collaborative teams to develop solutions to authentic problems and learn to implement protocols and procedures in the classroom and the field.
