Location: R. W. Traip Academy, Kittery, ME

Position: French/Spanish Teacher (Levels 1 - 5)

Description: R. W. Traip Academy, a successful public high school in Kittery, ME, is seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to join our World Language department as a French/Spanish teacher. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both French and Spanish, with the ability to teach levels 1 through 5 in each language.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in both French and Spanish.
  • Experience teaching levels 1 - 5 in both languages.
  • Familiarity with proficiency-based learning (PBL) model of teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Previous experience teaching in a proficiency-based learning environment preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Teaching with Comprehensible Input (TCI) methodology.
  • Ability to create engaging and immersive language learning experiences for students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A deep commitment to contributing positively to a professional work environment.
  • Possess a sincere appreciation and love for adolescents.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver effective language instruction using proficiency-based learning principles.
  • Implement Teaching with Comprehensible Input (TCI) methodology in lesson planning and delivery.
  • Assess student progress and proficiency using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the World Language department to develop and align curriculum and assessments.
  • Provide support and guidance to students to help them achieve language proficiency goals.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school-wide initiatives.

You must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.
