Our Children’s Services Head Start program is hiring a Family Service Advocate (FSA) – Center Aide at our Norway Early Learning Center. The FSA-Center Aide provides support while engaging with families in meeting both their children’s and family’s needs; advocates for families by working with other local social service agencies as needed; assists parents in obtaining appropriate medical and dental care for their children; supports parent engagement in center and community activities, committees and educational workshops; completes paperwork, reports, and maintains records and data on individual children. The FSA-Center Aide helps create a healthy, safe and fun learning environment for preschoolers and works as part of a teaching team providing support to meet children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development needs. Other duties include sharing the responsibility for the proper care and cleanliness of the center. This position is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Qualifications: High School diploma or G.E.D required; must have a credential in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field or obtain within 18 months of hire.
Other Requirements: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience coordinating parent activities; considerable stamina to regularly lift, bend, carry and perform other high-energy activities; and knowledge of community resources; a valid driver’s license; telephone; computer/word-processing skills, preferably Microsoft Office; ability to function autonomously and as part of a team. Pre-employment physical and TB screening, SBI, DMV, DHHS, fingerprinting, sex offender and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment.
