Industrial Arts Teacher
7-12 Houlton Middle High School, 26-27 School Year
RSU 29 is seeking a skilled, safety-conscious, and “hands-on” Industrial Arts Teacher to inspire the next generation of builders, makers, and engineers at Houlton Middle High School.
We believe that the shop floor is where theory meets reality. We are looking for an educator who can bridge the gap between academic concepts and practical application - someone who knows that “measuring twice and cutting once” is a lesson that applies to both wood and life.
Responsibilities
- Establish and strictly enforce rigorous safety protocols for all equipment and tool usage.
- Deliver engaging lessons in woodworking, and our construction trades program.
- Facilitate student-led projects that encourage problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Maintain, inventory and troubleshoot shop machinery and hand tools to ensure a functional learning space.
Qualifications and Skills
- Maine DOE Endorsement, (700) Industrial Arts/Technology Education.
- Strong background in trades including: Carpentry, Metalwork, Construction, HVAC or a degree in Technology Education preferred.
- Patience, a high degree of organization, and the ability to manage a high-energy, high-activity classroom environment.
