Location: Sebago Elementary School is located in East Sebago Maine, just minutes from Sebago Lake and just a short drive to Pleasant Mountain. Our school community values the natural beauty of our surrounding, and look for opportunities to engage students in outdoor learning. 

SUMMARY:  To create a challenging elementary grade program and nuturing class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to create positive relationships with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to build a foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Communicates regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains expectation of student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment.
  • Identifies student needs, take appropriate steps and develops strategies for individual education plans working with the assistance of district specialists as appropriate.
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
  • Provides individualized and small group instruction to differentiate the instruction to the needs of the student.
  • Assesses and evaluate the accomplishments of students’ academic and social growth and keeps appropriate records to provides progress reports as requested.

  

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor degree. Valid Teaching Certificate and CHRC.

 OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional practices; to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.  Will need to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; have skill in oral and written communication. Finally, the ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
