Posted Date 7/13/2019
Description

On behalf of the Islesboro School Committee, the School Counselor Search Committee invites qualified candidates to apply for this exciting opportunity. Islesboro Central School (ICS) seeks a visionary individual to serve as the Middle School and High School counselor. The position is multi-faceted, combining the historic role of a school counselor with a concentration in post secondary preparation and Pathways coordination. Pathways, ICS’ hallmark program, provides 60 students in grades 7-12 with a tailored educational experience. Through individual Pathways programming,  ICS students are deeply involved in a wide array of local and global issues and are encouraged and supported to explore areas of career interests through experiences, job shadowing, and internships.

ICS has become known as an innovative leader in providing a nurturing and challenging environment for every student in grades K-12, by ensuring all students have access to a rigorous program of academics along with a wide range of programs in the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities. ICS prides itself in providing a top notch education in tandem with meaningful and rewarding experiences throughout the school year. With unyielding support from the community, this one-of-a-kind island school is poised to establish itself as a model for public education.

The greatest predictor in educational success is one in which students’ preferences evolve into meaningful choices and then the informed passionate pursuit of individual interests; ICS believes that a student fully engaged in active choices in pursuit of work, the trades, certified programs or higher education is a force to be reckoned with. ICS rests on the premise that well-rounded socially responsible students must actively participate in substantive choices for their course of study, which provides the foundation for happy and successful adults in later life. Pathways provides the necessary framework in which extraordinary outcomes have become a norm.
