Y-Works After School Program Offsite Supervisor (part-time)

The Y-Works Offsite Supervisor is responsible for implementation of activities for children enrolled in the offsite Y Works After School Programs. The Offsite Supervisor will also oversee the offsite location and ensure a safe, secure, nurturing environment for all youth participants.


  1. Provide exceptional customer service to contribute to positive experiences for all Y members and guests.
  2. Oversee interaction and supervision of school age children (grades K-5) through games, crafts, homework help and other group activities.
  3. Oversee daily clean-up, setting up supplies, leaving program area neat and clean at end of program hours.
  4. Demonstrate a positive attitude and act as a role model for children, adults, and other staff demonstrating the Character Development Values of respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty.
  5. Demonstrate creativity, patience, understanding,  and be flexible and adapt to changing situations. Encourage healthy choices while children are at the program.
  6. Demonstrate a broad knowledge or program skill appropriate to the child care setting such as games, crafts, and other activities.
  7. Work positively with parents, children, supervisors, co-workers, principals, teachers, office staff, and custodians at school site. Notify supervisor immediately if there is a problem or damage occurs to school property.
  8. Assist in the maintenance of the highest standards of health and safety keeping the health and welfare of all children in mind at all times.
  9. Build effective, authentic relationships with participants and / or parents; help them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourage program involvement and identify potential volunteers.
  10. Model relationship-building skills and the YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring in all interactions. 
  11. Communicate member concerns, community inquiries and complaints to supervisor in a timely manner.
  12. Positively represent the YMCA through professional conduct and appearance.
  13. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
  14.    Acts as a role model for the values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in dealings with staff, members, and children.
  15.    Trainings to be completed before start of duties include Child Abuse Prevention, Blood borne Pathogens, Workplace Violence, Sexual Harassment, and Elder Abuse.
  16. Other duties as assigned.


  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  4. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  5. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  6. Applicant must have experience in experiential based programming and facilitation or an interest in pursuing training and information surrounding such. 
  7. Experience in New Games and Project Adventure activities or creative problem solving skills helpful. 
  8. Confidence in facilitating group activities with a wide range of developmental ages.
