Fort Kent Community High School
English Language Arts Teacher
Job Summary: Fort Kent Community High School is seeking a dynamic English Language
Arts teacher for the 2024-25 school year and beyond! The ideal candidate will have a passion
for teaching literature, writing, and critical thinking skills to students in grades 9-12.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans that align with state standards and
engage students in learning.
- Teach a range of courses including literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and
collaboration.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work to help them improve their
skills.
- Assess student learning and progress using a variety of methods including tests, essays,
projects, and presentations.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure that students
are progressing and receiving the support they need.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills and the ability to connect with a
variety of learners.
The ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree and will work to get approved by our higher
education partner, the University of Maine at Fort Kent, to teach an English Composition dual
enrollment college course.
Certification requirements: Maine 100 English/Language Arts and a CHRC are required

Start Date: 2024-25 School year
