Special Education Teacher: Therapeutic Early Elementary - Anticipated Growth
 
Jump start your career in special education with Waban! We are looking for motivated individuals who want to join a team of dedicated Special Education Teachers at our Fraser Ford Child Development Center. This is a year-round, special purpose school serving children pre-k through grade two. In this role, you will be provided an abundance of support and guidance while training for a minimum of 6 months to familiarize yourself with Waban’s methods and practices before leading your own class. To be considered, you must hold, or be eligible for a 282 Special Education Certification with preference to K-8 certifications. 
 
This professional will oversee the provision of services to a small caseload of students with autism, developmental disabilities and mental health needs, each of whom receives 1:1 or 1:2 support from an Educational Technician/Behavioral Health Professional. Responsibilities include conducting skills assessments, developing teaching plans, collaborating in curriculum planning, providing educational and behavioral services, and overseeing all aspects of classroom management. Through collaboration with the team of professionals which includes Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, and Licensed Clinicians, the Special Education Teacher supervises the Educational Technicians and the delivery of direct instruction in social, behavioral, emotional, functional, and academic skills. FFCDC partners with The New England Center for Children and implements the Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia to contribute to instructional planning. We follow an Applied Behavior Analysis model in our clinically intensive center-based program and provide training, supervision, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Preference given to candidates with special education experience. Candidate must hold or be eligible for 282 Certification.
