LOCATION:
Loranger Memorial School

POSITION TYPE AND STATUS:
Teacher in Residence for the 2024-2025 School Year, grades 3-8

Located a ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, Loranger Memorial School is seeking a teacher in residence to join our team. This position will fulfill requirements for student teaching, while earning a stipend. Responsibilities will include supporting students with targeted needs within assigned classroom placement. There are multiple grade opportunities based on candidate's choice of placement. The successful candidate should possess the following:

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Citizenship, residency or work education visa
  • Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/fingerprinting
  • Enrolled in Maine Teacher Residence program, with anticipation to graduate in 2025
  • Maine DOE Educational Technician III Authorization certification - Preferred

QUALIFICATIONS / JOB SUMMARY:

The position will be paid a stipend for their year of service. The successful candidate must be able to meet the following requirements:
  • Be enrolled in an accredited education degree program
  • Be on pace to meet all requirements for graduation, including the required completion of an internship experience (as verified by the University)
  • Complete background clearance/fingerprinting through the District and Maine Department of Education
  • Commit to the position for the school year, following the school calendar for professional development, school breaks, and school start/end times
  • Work with the University to schedule required courses/classes around the school schedule when possible
  • Supports learning opportunities in the following areas: Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and SEL
  • Help develop lesson plans, units of study, and instructional materials to provide customized, small, and large group instruction
  • Communicate with teachers, community outreach, building leaders, and other staff to enhance the program and outcomes
  • Support an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools, games, and interactive lessons
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the director
