The Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, reporting directly to the Director of Advancement, is a key ambassador and liaison for Kents Hill School playing a significant role in supporting the Kents Hill Fund and alumni relations programming while helping to achieve strategic goals and objectives. In addition, the Associate Director is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive alumni and parent relations program designed to connect alumni and past parents back to Kents Hill, working closely with other members of the Kents Hill community to connect alumni and past parents with each other, current students, and faculty and staff. In so doing, this position helps to build alumni and parent engagement and giving. This role also plays a lead role in coordinating messaging for the alumni and parent social media channels. The Associate Director works closely with other Advancement staff members to plan and execute a number of Advancement programs and events – including identifying and strategically recruiting alumni and parent volunteers and marketing and promoting attendance including Family Fall and Reunion Weekends. 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads Kents Hill’s Annual Giving program to ensure that all current and proposed initiatives, processes, communications, events, etc. reinforce Kents Hill and Advancement’s broader constituent engagement and philanthropic goals.
  • Plans and executes the various components of the Kents Hill Fund towards annually increasing revenue and participation rates across key constituent groups, including alumni, trustees, parents, faculty/staff, and friends.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements strategies to engage Kents Hills constituent groups in programs, activities, and events that help advance the school and support students.
  • Establish connections with current students – our future alumni – that introduce them to Kents Hills culture of engagement and philanthropy.
  • Effectively use RaisersEdge to support relationship development activities with constituent groups to identify, cultivate, recruit, and steward prospective volunteers and donors.
  • Participate in and, as needed, take the lead on content development and production activities for online, and print materials including appeals, thank you letters, newsletters and other advancement-related communications materials in coordination with the Admissions, Communications & Marketing teams, as needed.
  • Assist with the management of day-to-day department planning and operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement or the Head of School.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of current trends and issues around the philanthropic community, stakeholder engagement, and secondary education.
  • A strong comfort level with soliciting contributions, and a proven ability to support clients or volunteers.
  • A strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.
  • Must be adaptable to various fundraising environments, such as one-on-one meetings, group presentations, and addressing a variety of constituents.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, problem-solving, and communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Thrives in a goal-oriented, deadline-driven environment with a proven ability to adapt and manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Self-starter, deadline-driven, and able to adapt and manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality.

Requirements for the position are:

  • A four-year college degree required.
  • Three-to-five years of combined experience with increasing responsibility in the field(s) of advancement, development, alumni, and/or public relations.
  • Demonstrated success in the areas of fundraising and member engagement.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices is essential; experience in education desirable.
  • Raiser’s Edge or similar database experience.
  • Efficiency with Google and Microsoft Office products.
  • The availability to travel and work evening and weekend hours.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful driver's license background check required.
  • Ability to travel as needed, typically domestic.
